Nala Renewables issues Notice to Proceed for construction of Nala Vuolijoki 125MW/250MWh BESS project in Finland

London, 08 October 2026 - Nala Renewables has issued the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the Nala Vuolijoki 125MW/250MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Finland, marking the transition from development into construction.

At 125 MW /250 MWh, Nala Vuolijoki is one of the largest BESS projects in Finland to start construction, marking another significant milestone in Nala’s growth in the Finnish renewable energy market.

Along with the Kauhava 50MW/ 100MWh BESS project recently energised and our newly acquired Kärppiö 100MW/200MWh BESS project, the capacity of Nala Vuolijoki brings our pipeline in Finland to 275MW/ 550MWh.

Partners on the project include Nala Renewables as developer and owner, Despro as Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management(EPCM) and local engineering support, Destia Oy as the Balance of Plant (BOP)contractor, and Sungrow as the BESS technology supplier. Rabobank are providing the long-term finance for the project.
